The 205-studio PBSA project is now fully authorised to start construction after satisfying all Building Safety Regulator design and safety requirements under the Building Safety Act.
The approval comes 11 months after the firm gained the planning green light for the £44m scheme.
Delivered through Torsion’s fully integrated model, the firm is acting as investor, developer, contractor, and operator – with post-completion management to be handled by its LUNA Students arm.
Torsion said the Gateway 2 milestone confirms the scheme meets golden thread and fire safety design criteria and praised the Regulator’s growing influence in improving industry standards.
Torsion is now preparing to share lessons from the Gateway 2 process with peers to help smooth the path for others navigating the new rules.
The scheme is being designed by Cunniff Design, with Roscoe and Orion Fire Engineering also advising.
